In 2016 the Victorian State Government announced funding for the Victorian Pride Centre, a space to accommodate Victorian-based LGBTIQ+ organisations.  The Archives was invited to be a key tenant and negotiations began soon after to provide a custom-built space to accommodate the collection.  A memorandum of understanding signed on 20 April 2016 and a subsequent tenancy agreement was signed on the 22 April 2020.

Construction on the Pride Centre continues through to end of 2020, with an anticipated opening in early 2021.
