In 1978, an autonomous collective of the Melbourne Gay Teachers and Students Group published this 60 page booklet aimed at gay and lesbian youth, the first time a publication was produced to meet their needs. The book received considerable media attention in Victoria, most of it negative, with evangelical Christian churches and organisations campaigning against it, and Member of Parliament, Jeff Kennett, commenting that he saw it as proselytising.
