Description
On 11 November 1967 the Brisbane Truth reports on Cops breaking up a queer ball in outer Brisbane, taking the names and addresses of the 170 attendees. The ball was not Brisbane’s famous Queen’s Birthday Ball (est. 1962) held in June. Toy de Wilde has noted that “I was on the door and it was called the Princess Ball. The cops were furious to find the organisers had a licence. Despite not finding a single thing to charge anyone with they stayed two hours and ruined the evening with many people fleeing rather than be questioned.”
