Volunteer

As a volunteer-run organisation, we welcome offers to contribute your time and skills. Most of us are not professionally qualified as archivists, records managers or librarians, but if you have experience in these fields, we’d love you to be involved as well.

By volunteering with us, you can learn new skills, see and work with our treasures past and present, and get the satisfaction of knowing that our history is preserved for future generations. It’s also a great opportunity to engage with other community members.

Most of our volunteers work in our Reading Room, where we catalogue, digitise and rehouse material for preservation. We also have many volunteers who work on various collection projects, offsite and online. Others volunteer their skills in journalism, legal advice, marketing and events. There are many, many ways that people can provide their time and expertise.

We will re-open our new volunteer intake in February 2025. If you would like to volunteer with AQuA, please complete an expression of interest form and we will get in touch in early 2025.

Student placements: Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to support student placements or internships.
