The incorporation of the Australian Gay Archives on the 2nd of November 1983 established it as a legal entity, with a constitution governing membership, office bearers elected by members, and rules governing its operation. In the first year following incorporation, Graham Carbery was president, Rob Thurling Vice-President, Mark Riley secretary and John Willis treasurer.
