Sunday 17 March: The Queer History Slideshow
Are there histories of young queer people in Australia? What happened before there were any queer youth groups and when homosexuality was still illegal? What did queer young people do in the past? What protests did they organize? What parties did they have? What did they wear and what music did they listen to? How much have things changed for queer young people today?
Join Daniel for an interactive slideshow featuring images and stories of queer young people from Australia’s past. Come see pictures of struggle, celebration and amazing youth fashions from history!
This event will be presented by Daniel Marshall and is based on the Queer Youth Education Project workshops that he runs with queer youth groups. Daniel also writes about queer history and youth and is an academic at Deakin University in Melbourne.

Tuesday 19 March: Slide Night with the Archives
MQFF goes to the Archives! As part of its 35th anniversary celebrations, the Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives has pulled the slide projector out from under the bed and invited some of its special friends to share some of their most precious queer historical pics with you.
We’ve given them each 5 minutes on the stopwatch to tell the story of their slides in a race against time! For one night only, join us for a fast and sweaty evening of tales of the raunchy, the remembered and the ridiculous. Anything could happen! A cash bar and Australian Lesbian and Gay Archives stall will also feature at the event. Donations support ALGA. A must for all queer history geeks.
