In early 1982 USA-based religious bigot, anti-homosexual crusader and ‘Moral Majority’ leader Jerry Falwell announced he was making an impending visit to Australia in May, local gay and lesbian activists registered the name ‘Moral Majority’ as a business name in many states of Australia. Activists produced stickers, demo pinnies, and badges to picket outside Falwell’s meetings. The slogans included ‘Moral Majority says keep abortion safe and legal’, and ‘Moral Majority says Sodom today, Gomorrah the world’.
