In 1983 the activist publication Gay Community News transformed into two publications, the activist newsletter Gayzette and the men’s lifestyle magazine OutRage. As noted by Bill Calder “the popular reach of the new-look magazine, combined with its publishers’ developed political nous, saw OutRage play a crucial role during the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s-90s.” The cover features a portrait of ACT Up activist Bill Hathaway by photographer Andrew Lehman. The Archives’ complete set has been digitised in GALE’s Archives of Sexuality and Gender.
