Dear ALGA members and supporters,
Just an update about our activity here at the Archives during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. For the safety of our volunteers, researchers and visitors we will not be able to facilitate visits to the ALGA Reading Room over the coming month, and potentially longer. We will of course monitor this week to week and our Committee members will continue to facilitate your research requests by email or Facebook Messenger; however, there may be some longer response times.
If spending a lot of time at home it might be the perfect time to start sorting through your own personal archive – if you are looking for advice on processing your archive or looking to donate material please get in touch with us first via email or Facebook.
We are also aware of the impact of social isolation, particularly on our older members and supporters and we have been in touch with some of our members to check in with how they are going. We are currently discussing ways of continuing to celebrate and share our queer histories across our various platforms and will keep you all up-to-date with this.

Our Facebook page will continue to highlight Australia’s queer history, our collections, and work, including freely accessible online content. Tomorrow we’ll start a new series of posts highlighting Australian queer history online, with a post on Australian queer screen history.
Please stay safe.
Warmest regards,
The ALGA Committee
